FAQs
Retainer vs. Per Project
What is the difference between a retainer and per-project work?
1
A monthly retainer gives your firm a set number of dedicated law clerk hours each month — consistent, priority support billed at a flat monthly rate. Per-project work is billed per matter, ideal for one-time needs or firms that prefer to pay as they go.
Which option is right for my practice?
2
If you have recurring legal admin needs, a retainer is almost always the better investment — more hours, priority access, and a lower effective hourly rate. If you have occasional or one-time needs, per-project is the right fit. Not sure? Fill out our contact form and we'll recommend the right option for your volume.
What is included in a retainer?
3
Each retainer tier includes a set number of hours per month, access to our clerk team, priority response times, and a monthly check-in. Higher tiers include same-day turnarounds, dedicated communication channels, and multi-practice-area support. Full details are on our pricing page.
Can I switch tiers or cancel my retainer?
4
Yes. Retainers are month-to-month with 30 days' written notice. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time with appropriate notice.
